Overview - MetaField
What is MetaField?
MetaField is the only field and lab operational workflow engine for engineering services firms. It supports fast, reliable data collection and reporting for your entire operations.
In other words, MetaField is the end-to-end software solution that will enable your team to be successful. It simplifies your firm’s daily tasks — so you can tackle any project with accuracy and efficiency.
What Can MetaField Do?
You can use MetaField to perform many high-volume work activities, including:
- Density Testing (Soil/Bituminous)
- Inspections and Observations
- Activity Logging
- Materials Testing (Concrete, Soil, Aggregates)
- Sample Tracking
- Scheduling of Field Work
- Delivery of Client Reports/Data

MetaField Modules
MetaField is organized into several role-based modules (e.g., Field, LIMS, Scheduling). Your home page only shows the modules available to you, based on your permissions.
Scheduling
Assign work to technicians and manage workloads across projects. This module helps you seamlessly coordinate and communicate with field staff.
Field
Log real-time data for field work and activities, including: Density Testing, Gauge Standardization, Safety, Evaluations, and Report Generation.
Dashboard
See an overview of project work via informational and work queues. This module helps you oversee projects and important activities within them.
Quality Control
Manage activities, tests, samples, and reports created in MetaField.
Delivery
Holds all of your reports, including those created outside and uploaded into MetaField. Reports are PDF outputs of data you've captured for a project (via test forms, activity forms, etc.). All reports end up in Delivery, where they can be emailed to customers or made public in AgilePort.
LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
Manage specimens for lab testing. LIMS also houses Test Documents, Soil Proctor Results, and other information related to the lab process.
Accreditation
Contains lab accreditation documents and records. This module helps you quickly navigate to the module where a specific record is created or managed.
Project Administration
Quickly set up and edit projects within MetaField. This module also gives you access to Project Specifications, Clients & Contacts, Billing Costs, and more.
Utilities
Use simple tools for data extraction and billing management across other modules. Selected records can be quickly extracted as .csv files for review or billing purposes.
Administration
Manage settings and supporting data in MetaField. This module helps you fine-tune MetaField to your unique business needs, making activities faster and easier for users.
New Field User Experience
Gives you access to the updated user experience for the Field module.
Browser Support
MetaField is compatible with all smart devices that can utilize a web browser, allowing end users to choose which device best suits their needs (tablets, laptops, smart phones, desktops, etc.).
Most browsers and devices allow for zooming and text enlarging for users with visual impairments. MetaField also supports voice-to-text for many data entry fields throughout the system. Recommended browsers include Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge and FireFox. Support for Microsoft Explorer was discontinued with the 2021.2 release.
It is expected that all device operating systems be routinely upgraded to the most recent version for an optimal user experience.
